Why come to the Zoo?
The Santa Barbara Zoo is the perfect resource to make your life sciences curriculum come alive! With more than 500 animals in our collection, the possibilities for your class are endless.
How much does it cost to visit the Zoo with a group?
With a reservation, your group of ten people or more will receive $1 off regular admission for every person in your group. In addition, for every five children in your group, we will admit one chaperone for free. Zoo Memberships cannot be applied to group discounts.
When can my group come to the Zoo?
Group reservations are offered Monday through Friday, except for major holidays. Groups can enter the Zoo as early as 9:00 a.m. and can be admitted as late as 4:00 p.m. Groups arriving before 10:00 a.m. should be aware that some animals may not be on exhibit until 10:00 a.m. Early closures for certain special events may affect reservation availability. No group discount is available on weekends or holidays.
Parking and Transportation
School buses park for free in the Zoo parking lot with a reservation. Regular parking rates will apply to personal vehicles and vans. If your group is arriving in Santa Barbara via Amtrak, Santa Barbara MTD can help you arrange transportation to the Zoo. Call MTD directly at (805) 963-3366 for details.
How to sign up
Reserving a visit for your group is as easy as 1, 2, 3.
1. Open our Registration Form and print it out.
2. Fill out the form completely, including your email address and fax number and fax it to us at (805) 560-9889 at least two weeks prior to your visit.
3. Look for your confirmation packet via email in about a week. If you do not receive a confirmation email within one week, please call us at (805) 679-8500 to confirm your registration was received.

Zoo Train
Don't miss a ride on the Zoo train! The Zoo train is a favorite with children young and old. Each round trip takes about 20 minutes and provides a peek at behind-the-scenes areas, as well as a new perspective on many of your favorite animal exhibits. Include a train ride in your reservation for 100 people or less, and receive the SB Zoo Member's price.
Lunch Options
Take the hassle out of lunch! Pre-order lunch from the Zoo and it will be ready to pick up at the time you choose from the Ridley-Tree House Restaurant. A lunch order form will be included in your confirmation packet, and can be returned via fax to (805) 560-9889.
ZOO4U Scholarship Program
The Santa Barbara Zoo is able to offer a limited number of scholarships to groups visiting us from Title 1 schools and non-profit organizations. For complete details, including application procedures for this program, visit our ZOO4U information page. Please fill out the application on the ZOO4U page, not a group reservation form, to request a scholarship. Eligible applicants are awarded scholarships on a first-come, first-served basis.
