You can choose one or all of the following exciting educational experiences!
Field Trip
Take your students for a walk on the wild side! The Santa Barbara Zoo is the perfect place to enrich your Life Sciences curriculum. Whether your students are just beginning to learn about life cycles or are animal experts, the Santa Barbara Zoo has plenty to offer you and your students. You can choose to lead your own field trip, or choose any one of the following program options to help make your Zoo field trip something truly special.
Connection Classes
Connection Classes are 45-minute classes offered by our Zoo Education staff to help you make the most out of your Zoo field trip. These hands-on classes help children to connect the curriculum they are learning in the classroom with the animals they are seeing at the Zoo. These exciting classes are aligned with the California Learning Standards and cover a variety of age-appropriate wildlife topics. These classes are sure to be experiences your students will never forget!
Guided Tours
Guided Tours are led by an experienced Zoo Educator and last around 60 minutes. Each tour has a theme, related to the California Learning Standards for your grade level and is designed to help your students connect the material they are learning in the classroom to the animals they are seeing at the Zoo. These tours are sure to get your kids excited about the Life Sciences!
Animal Encounters
Animal Encounters can be arranged for children of any age, and give your students a chance to get up close and personal with one of our Zoo's totally safe education animals. A Zoo Educator will bring out an animal from our collection and talk to your students about it. Depending on the animal you choose and the age of your students, they may even be able to touch! You can work with one of our Zoo Educators to choose an animal that will best emphasize your curriculum and will be the most exciting for your students. Available animals include a wide variety of birds, reptiles, amphibians, as well as a few small mammals from our collection.
School Snoozes
The Santa Barbara Zoo's famous Zoo Snoozes are now available for school groups!
